Victor Harbour

We did a day trip from Adelaide to the small coastal town of Victor Harbour. It had been on my list of places to see as I could remember bits of it from a family holiday we did years ago. And I was especially looking forward to the horse drawn tram ride across to Granite Island which is home to many penguins.

But when we arrived it was raining and very windy. Then miraculously it cleared and was blue sky and sunny.

We decided to see how the weather went while we had a special Fathers Day lunch at the Anchorage pub on the beachside.

We then walked down to the Jetty only to find due to the weather they had closed off the tram ride. I was devo!

Jetty sans horse and tram cart

tram parked up for the day and horses nowhere to be seen

Instead we went to the South Australian Whale Museum. It was a good little spot to stay out of the wind and for the kids to have a look. I must say it was more for the kids and was a bit light on for displays and information for adults. But at $27 for a family it was one of the cheaper places we have been.

After we looked through the Museum we headed back down to the Jetty for Craig to get himself some Jam Donuts. His favourite things in the whole wide world!!!

Craig said when we were leaving, never mind about the tram, we will go there next time! we are going to need to do another six month trip to go to all the places we have missed! Such a big country and we have seen so much in our short six months but you could travel it for 10 years and never see and do everything!

  1. In all my years of travelling to Vicotr Harbor, not once did we visit the museum (at least not that i can remember). That quote is haunting!
